The main race at MotorLand was a repeat of the previous day’s sprint, with a victory for Marc Márquez. He matched his Saturday showing to again place ahead of Jorge Martín and Pedro Acosta, who were in the same spots on the podium.
Márquez took full advantage of mistakes by his rivals to escape. Bagnaia got off the line poorly and Martín and Acosta collided on Lap 2 while fighting for second place.
Behind Márquez, his younger brother, Alex, Acosta, Franco Morbidelli, Brad Binder and Bagnaia duked it out to lead the chase. The latter was finally able to catch up with a solid second half of the race. He and Alex Márquez started to fight for the position, but a collision at Turn 10 took them out of the race, leaving the podium place for Acosta.
Brad Binder, Enea Bastianini, Morbidelli, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Marco Bezzecchi, Álex Rins and Jack Miller completed the Top 10.
The MotoGP World Championship heads to Italy for the San Marino Grand Prix, which takes place from September 6th-8th.
Point for Repsol Honda at MotorLand
There was a bittersweet ending at the Aragon GP for Repsol Honda, as Joan Mir claimed a point for the team at MotorLand but Luca Marini went home empty handed.
Mir got a good start, gaining four places on the first two laps. After this initial surge, he settled down in 18th alongside Álex Rins, through to the middle of the race. In the final stretch and with his tyres somewhat worn, he tried to catch up with Fernández and Zarco ahead of him, but finally had to settle for 15th, bringing a tricky Grand Prix to a close in a positive way.
Marini had to ride alone after suffering a problem with his bike on the grid. The Italian was pushed to the pits, where his bike was started by his crew, and had to take off through Pit Lane. Although he rode at a pace similar to those in the points, he was only able to finish 17th. Next up is the San Marino GP, his home round.

Statements
Joan Mir
“Today in the race we tried something really, really different on the bike to try and fix some issues we have been having. The sort of change that you can’t normally make during a weekend. It was not the direction to follow, but it has helped us to understand a lot of things. It’s something really good that we were able to try and the information we have will help in the long term. I am struggling mostly on corner entry where I was strong before so this is one thing to work on as well.”
Luca Marini
“The start of the race today is something we need to investigate because obviously it meant we were out of contention, I had to come back into the pit lane. It’s a pity because we are really getting closer and closer, making progress every session but we are not making the most of opportunities – we had the chance to score good points today with what happened ahead. My laps were similar to the other Honda riders which shows we could have been there without the start. Now we go to Misano which is a completely different track.”
