At one of the fastest and shortest tracks on the calendar, both Jorge Martín and ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia, broke the circuit record that the Italian had already beaten on Friday.

At the start of Q1, Pedro Acosta and Jack Miller quickly emerged as the main candidates to get into Q2, but Pol Espargaró, who was very strong with the new KTM prototype for 2025, ended up ousting Acosta for the final position in the second session.

Bagnaia was strong in FP2 and, in Q2, broke the circuit record again at the start of the final session. However, Martín’s final lap saw him snatch pole ahead of his main rival in the fight for the title. The front row of the grid is completed by Marc Márquez.

Behind the Ducati riders, Aleix Espargaró is fourth, Jack Miller fifth and Maverick Viñales sixth. The sprint race will take place on Saturday at 3pm (CEST).

Further step forward in Q1 for Repsol Honda

After a positive Friday with improvements for their engine package, on Saturday Repsol Honda rider Joan Mir finished 15th in FP2. He managed to improve his best time from Friday and was just ahead of teammate Luca Marini.

In Q1, both Marini and Mir achieved their best times of the weekend on their first attempt. The pair were fighting for the Top 15 positions until the final moments.

Marini, the fastest of the two in Q1, cut almost six tenths off his Friday time. His 1:29.259 was another 6 tenths off the best time of the session, putting him 18th on the grid.

Mir put in several clean laps and will be 19th, thanks to his final time of 1:29.344. He was a full second faster than on Friday.
