The longest circuit on the calendar hosted the tenth qualifying session of the 2024 season for MotoGP riders, with Aleix Espargaró besting four Ducati.
After an FP2 dominated by the same three leaders as Friday – Jorge Martín, Pecco Bagnaia and Aleix Espargaró – Q2 began with the factory Ducatis dominating. So much so that it took Bagnaia just two laps to lower the circuit record at Silverstone to 1:57.517. In the final moments, Aleix Espargaró surprised the Italian and set a perfect lap of 1:57.309 for Pole Position. Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini will complete the front row of the grid.
With Q1 already completed and Álex Márquez and Pedro Acosta joining Q2, the session was held in the dry, and the circuit record was shattered at the first opportunity.
On the second row, Jorge Martín, Álex Márquez and Brad Binder will line up for the sprint race at 3pm local time.

Improvement for Repsol Honda in Q1

After a difficult first day, FP2 on Saturday morning allowed the two Repsol Honda riders to get a little closer to the front runners and gain confidence for the qualifying sessions.
Luca Marini, the fastest of the two Repsol riders at Silverstone so far, had to wait until the final flying lap in Q1 to improve his best time from Frida y afternoon’s practice by six tenths. The Italian clocked a 1:59.097 to take P9, less than a tenth off seventh position, giving him 19th on the grid.
Joan Mir was more solid in the morning session than during the two run outs on Friday, and was able to improve his best time of the weekend by eight tenths in Q1. Although he was not as fast as his teammate, he was one of the riders who improved the most compared to the first day in Great Britain. He start right next to Marini; in P20, with a best time of 1:59.468.
