The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli hosts its second race weekend of the MotoGP World Championship season: The Pramac dell’Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. After the tests carried out last Monday on the track, the riders arrived with data and experience.
The fastest rider of the day was Pecco Bagnaia with a 1:30.286, a new circuit record. Jorge Martín and Marc Márquez followed him closely. Finishing fourth on the combined timesheets was Enea Bastianini, whilst Fabio Quartararo was the big surprise, managing to fifth and go directly through to Q2. Maverick Viñales and Aleix Espargaró, along with Pedro Acosta, rounded off the Top 8.
Track conditions changed a lot between Free Practice and Practice 1. In the morning, on a wet, tricky surface, Marc Márquez was the fastest with a 1:32.082, followed by Jorge Martín, 0.063 seconds behind.
Crashes for Brad Binder, Enea Bastianini, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Jorge Martín at the end of the Practice 1 session caused a series of yellow flags that prevented the times from being lowered.
Joan Mir and Luca Marini return to action
The Repsol Honda Team resumed normal service on Friday, with both their riders back on track. Joan Mir was 19th overall, with Luca Marini 18th, as they produced several long runs at Misano.
In the morning Free Practice session, Joan Mir earned 20th, and Luca Marini 17th. Marini was the fastest Honda in the session, with a time of 1:33.390, less than one and a half seconds behind the leader.
In the afternoon, in Practice 1, the Repsol Honda riders’ objective was to do as many long runs as possible to gather information. Marini was the man who did the most laps, with a total of 26, while Mir did 24. The Spaniard was 18th, one position ahead of his Italian teammate.
Both riders improved their positions throughout the day, but will have to continue working to make it into Q2 on Saturday.
The action on Day 2 will kick off at 10:10am [CEST] with Free Practice 2, followed by qualifying. The 13-lap Sprint Race will take place at 3pm.

Statements
Joan Mir
“There were some positive things today, I think some of the new package can help us be more competitive in the short term. Unfortunately, there are still problems with the vibrations that we need to address. We are quite far, it’s true but I think that once we overcome this vibration problem, we have some pieces that will help a lot. There’s work to do and we have to stay focused this weekend to solve the vibrations.”
Luca Marini
L“Already we were able to improve our lap time, the condition of the circuit is very good despite all of the rain. When you compare the distance from us to the top riders from last weekend to this one, I think our new package has given us a few tenths. Today was about confirming everything from the test because I am feeling back to my best and able to really push, unlike in the test. Everything we tried was positive and now we are focusing on making more laps to understand everything deeply.”
