The legendary Sachsenring circuit hosted a qualifying session full of excitement in the premier class. After a morning practice session, an intense Q1 took place in which Raúl Fernández (Aprilia) and Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati) managed to make the cut to the fight for pole.
After Q1, the fastest riders of the weekend took to the track to determine the starting grid for the German Grand Prix. On their first run, the MotoGP riders already rode at a pace faster than the circuit record. Finally, it was Jorge Martín (Ducati) who set the best time, with a 1:19.423. Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia) and Raúl Fernández (Aprilia) completed the front row.
The Top 10 was rounded off by Pecco Bagnaia, Álex Márquez, Franco Morbidelli, Maverick Viñales, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Enea Bastianini and Pedro Acosta.
The sprint race will take place at 3pm (CEST).
Bittersweet qualifying for Repsol Honda
After a difficult Friday for Joan Mir, the Spaniard tried out different settings that allowed him to make progress at Sachsenring. However, after a difficult FP2, the Repsol Honda rider couldn’t find a good feeling and will start from 20th place this weekend.
Luca Marini experienced a somewhat different day to his teammate. On Friday, the Italian had a better feeling compared to other Grands Prix. After a free practice session in which he achieved 12th place, the Repsol Honda rider closed the qualifying session in 18th position. It is his best starting position of the season.
