The Circuit of the Americas hosted the third round of the MotoGP World Championship last Sunday, in which Marc Márquez claimed his sixth consecutive victory at the Texan track. His Repsol Honda teammate, Dani Pedrosa, managed to overcome physical problems and earned a praiseworthy seventh place. Following the Grand Prix of The Americas, Team Manager Alberto Puig analysed the pair’s performances.

WHAT WAS THE STRATEGY FOR AMERICAS RACE?
“The strategy was to start well, avoid any problems and put together a strong pace in a free way. We knew if Marc had a strong pace that it would be tough for the others to follow him. He chose a hard rear tyre and this is why Marc might have had more problems at the beginning. In Dani’s case the goal was to finish the race. He took some painkillers and was quite good at the beginning of the race – he was in a good group and he kept his distance with the guys behind. It was very positive for Dani, because this weekend was so hard for him.”

THE POSITIVE POINTS AND NEGATIVE POINTS AFTER RACE?
“The positive points were Marc’s win and Dani’s result. Both were brave. There were no negative points this weekend in Austin.”

THE VIEW FROM PIT WALL DURING RACE?
“It looked like an easy race, but it wasn’t. From the pit-wall you are never able to be calm because even if a rider like Marc is leading alone, many things can happen before the finish line. Everyone is nervous until the end!”
