Álex Márquez (Ducati) won the British GP Sprint Race in wet conditions. Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati) and Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) rounded off the podium on Saturday at Silverstone.
The riders completed a total of 10 laps at the British track. Johann Zarco (Ducati), Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia), Jorge Martín (Ducati), Jack Miller (KTM), Augusto Fernández (KTM) and Brad Binder (KTM) completed the Top 9 to earn points.
With this result, Marco Bezzecchi overtakes Jorge Martín in the overall standings and cuts the gap to Pecco Bagnaia to 27 points.
On Sunday at 13:00 local time, the British GP race takes place.
Adaptation for Repsol Honda Team
In a race declared wet, the Repsol Honda Team riders had to face a 10-lap Sprint Race.
Marc Márquez crossed the finish line in 18th position. After gaining several positions and getting close to the Top 10, he lost momentum as the race progressed. Due to discomfort in his right abductor, he took the race calmly to avoid taking risks and looked for a good base with which to improve in the future.
Joan Mir finished 17th in his first Sprint Race for nearly two months. He used the contest to regain his feel for the Honda and accumulate kilometres for the rest of the season.

Statements
Marc Márquez
“A complicated day with the rain and we just didn’t have the feeling with the bike. We used the Sprint to try and understand many things, when I saw that I was out of the points I looked to ride with the other Hondas in order to watch and learn. We finished the race, learned some more things and did not fall. Let’s see what happens tomorrow because it looks like the conditions will be very different. I want to say congratulations to Alex as well, he had a great race and he is in a good moment.”
Joan Mir
“It was a very wet day today, that is certain! It stopped raining just before the Sprint and the track was drying out as the race went on – it was a race of two very different parts. It’s difficult in these conditions to manage the grip and it maybe highlighted some of our weaker points more. I didn’t feel super comfortable during the race but it was important to do the laps and keep improving our feeling. It looks like it will be a dry race tomorrow, so hopefully we can improve then. But it was good to be back racing, I was smiling in the first laps.”
