Jorge Navarro: “we could have fought for the victory”
Jorge Navarro saw his hopes of fighting for the Moto3 title take a heavy blow at Misano, after he suffered a crash when riding third behind Brad Binder and Enea Bastianini. The Repsol rider went down at Turn 14 of the eighth lap and suffered a dislocated left shoulder, later put back into place by doctors at the circuit. Navarro drops down to third place in the overall standings, 111 points behind series leader Binder. Teammate Aron Canet, who had been circulating in fifth in the first few laps, finished seventh and continued to put points on the board at Misano.

“It is a pity that this crash prevented us from finishing the race, because I was in a good position and I think we could have fought for the victory. However, coming out of a corner I opened the throttle a little more than I should have, lost grip with the rear tyre and couldn’t save the crash. Now we have to keep working in the same way, because the path we followed with the team this weekend was very good; we were always fast in training and had a good pace for the race. The results are not coming for us, with the mistake from another rider at Silverstone and one of my own here, but the memory of last year at Aragon is very good and we will continue with the same enthusiasm in order to enjoy ourselves and get back to the front.”

“It was a physically demanding race; It was very hot and we rode a very high pace. In the initial stages we struggled a bit and it’s something we need to improve on between now and the end of season, as with a good start I’m sure we would have had a chance at the podium. We finished the race -that is positive- and we set a good pace, especially in the closing laps. In addition, I did so in the Top10. The overall verdict from the weekend is very positive and we met the objectives we had set for ourselves with the team.”
