Jorge Martín (Ducati) set a record time of 1:43.198 for pole at Motegi. The riders who complete the front row of the grid are Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati) and Jack Miller (KTM).
Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati), Brad Binder (KTM), Fabio Di Giannantonio (Ducati), Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda), Maverick Viñales (Aprilia), Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) and Johann Zarco completed the Top 10 for the Japanese round.
At 8:00 (CEST), the first sprint race will take place at Mobility Resort Motegi.
Tight qualifying for Repsol Honda Team
Marc Márquez set times in the 1:44s in the early stages of Q1 to secure his place in the fight for pole. Over the course of the session, the riders improved their pace and, with a 1:43.997, the Repsol Honda Team man moved in to Q2 for the third time this season. Finally, after an intense qualifying session, he will start from the third row of the grid, in seventh position.
Joan Mir, after improving his time on several occasions during Q1, suffered a small crash that prevented him from improving his times, and he was unable to advance to Q2. The Repsol Honda team rider will start the Japanese Grand Prix races in 15th position.
