Marc Márquez will be the big absentee at the second round of the season, after undergoing surgery on Sunday night to treat a fractured bone in his right hand suffered at the Portuguese GP.
Joan Mir’s goal at Termas de Río Hondo will be to continue his progress in adapting to the Honda RC213V. After a difficult weekend in Portugal, which ended positively when he made a great comeback in the race and scored his first points of the season, the Repsol Honda Team rider comes to a track where he has already won once –in Moto3 in 2017. The last time Mir rode at the circuit, last year, he came close to the podium at a positive round.
The sprint race will be held on Saturday at 15.00h local time, with the race itself on Sunday at 14.00h

“A busy start to the year as we are already heading straight to the next race! For us, still in the learning stages this is a positive because we are able to get more time on the bike and immediately try out some new ideas. We had a mixed weekend in Portimao, so I am hoping everything can run without incident this weekend and I can get more miles on the bike. This is the objective, to keep building and improve our speed in both races. Last year I managed a good result in Termas, so I am interested to see what we can do this year. I also want to wish Marc all the best in his recovery, it is always better to be riding alongside him on track and have him in the garage”.
