The reigning MotoGP World Champion placed sixth in FP1 and seventh in FP2, 6 tenths off pacesetter Andrea Iannone.
On the other side of the Repsol Honda garage, Dani Pedrosa was thirteenth in both the first and second sessions at Phillip Island.
Phillip Island is a very unique track, with it’s own characteristics and challenges.

We didn’t start the day very well in terms of feeling with the bike and front tyre, and we had a crash that was quite unexpected. Anyway, I think we made a good step in the second session, so we’re happy with the work we did, even if we ended in seventh place.
We made some changes on the bike and did kind of a long run, looking to better understand the feeling, and I think we’re now heading in the right direction, even if we still have work to do.
We’re all very close, and it’s not clear yet where everyone is, so we’ll see how it goes tomorrow. Of course we’ll try and give one hundred per cent.

I went out this morning and the feeling wasn’t bad, but when I exited for the second run, with the same tyre and having made no particular changes on the bike, I lost the front and crashed.
The feeling still wasn’t perfect in the second session, with turning and the front in general. We tried the soft and the medium spec tyre, and we must keep working. We’ll see tomorrow.
