Márquez turns focus to Austria after Brno win

Marc Márquez will contest his fourth Austrian GP this weekend. Since the Red Bull Ring returned to the World Championship calendar in 2016, it is the only circuit on the current schedule where he has not achieved a victory.

The Repsol Honda Team rider has, however, placed on the podium twice in his three previous visits to Austria (second in 2017 and 2018).

Márquez holds a 63-point lead in the overall standings and has finished either first or second in 9 of the 10 races held so far in 2019 – with a crash at Austin the only blot on his record. The Spaniard has 6 wins and 3 second places to date.

For the third consecutive race, Stefan Bradl will replace Jorge Lorenzo, who is still recovering from his vertebrae injury.

2019 Austrian GP – Rider statements

#MM93

It has certainly been a busy return after the summer! Of course we are very happy about the result in Brno but now we must focus again and prepare for Austria.

The Red Bull Ring is a very unique circuit that demands a lot from the brakes and from the power of the bike. In the past we have had some very exciting races there so this year I think it will again be very interesting!

@stefanbradl

I am excited to ride again after finding my feeling again with the Honda RC213V in Brno, I think we can be on the pace much sooner in Austria. It’s a circuit I have only ridden once, but I am confident with the Repsol Honda Team we can learn what we need to very quickly.

Again, I must thank HRC and the team for giving me this opportunity and I am sure we can have another very productive weekend together.
