The first qualifying session of the season ended with Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) earning pole position for the Portuguese GP with a time of 1:37.226. Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati) and Jorge Martín (Ducati) will accompany him on the front row of the grid at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve.
Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia), Jack Miller (KTM), Enea Bastianini (Ducati) Maverick Viñales (Aprilia), Marco Bezzecchi (Ducati), Luca Marini (Ducati) and Johann Zarco (Ducati) completed the Top 10.
The next session will be at 4 PM (CET), the first sprint race of the 2023 season.
Positive day of work for the Repsol Honda Team
Marc Márquez will start from the head of the grid in the races that will take place this weekend in Portimao. The eight-time World Champion earned pole position number 64 in the premier class.
Joan Mir was unable to get through Q1 in his first attempt as a Repsol Honda Team rider. He was two tenths away from making the cut for Q2 and will start fourteenth on the grid.
