The two MotoGP title candidates will take off from the second row.
After a qualifying session in which Luca Marini set the best time of the day late on, the Italian will start from pole for both the sprint race and Sunday’s race. Fabio Di Giannantonio and Álex Márquez join him on the front row. Behind them, Pecco Bagnaia placed ahead of Jorge Martín by just 22 thousandths of a second and they will take off from fourth and fifth, respectively. Johann Zarco rounds off the second row.
Marc Márquez is on Row 3, alongside Maverick Viñales and Friday’s fastest rider, Raúl Fernández. The fourth row consists of Aleix Espargaró, Brad Binder and Augusto Fernández.
The sprint race takes place on Saturday at 8pm local time.
Step forward for Marc Márquez and difficulties for Joan Mir
It was a second day of contrasts for the Repsol Honda Team riders. Marc Márquez managed to improve slightly in P2, and when Q2 arrived he followed Bagnaia to momentarily place himself on the front row, in third. However, he would be relegated to seventh position and a spot on the third row.
Joan Mir was unable to find a better feeling in P2 and finished 22nd. In Q1, Mir was tenth and will have to fight back from 20th on the grid.
