Rain made an appearance on the second day of MotoGP preseason testing, limiting track time with sporadic interruptions. The riders and teams chose carefully when to put in laps, taking a cautious approach.
Jorge Martín (Ducati) set a time of 1:58.736, which allowed him to finish at the top of the standings. Along with Martín, the other riders able to go below 1:59 were Miguel Oliveira (Aprilia), Pol Espargaró (GasGas) and Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha). These three finished one tenth off the best time and were separated by just 58 thousandths.
Unlike yesterday’s session, today the Top 10 featured a greater variety of manufacturers, although with very similar times: Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) finished three tenths slower the best lap and only a tenth quicker than Brad Binder (KTM), who occupied 10th. Among the group in between were Raúl Fernández (Aprilia), Luca Marini (Ducati), Álex Rins (Honda) and Enea Bastianini (Ducati).
During the last hour of the session it continued to rain lightly but uninterruptedly, and some riders decided to go out in wet conditions.
The Repsol Honda team optimise their efforts
After the intense work of the first day, Marc Márquez and Joan Mir minimised their time on track. Márquez finished 13th, seven tenths off the best time and Mir was 16th, 182 thousandths behind his teammate

Rider Statements
“Unfortunately today we couldn’t ride a lot and we had to change our schedule as a result. We were able to do about 25 laps in the dry and then in the wet we were able to confirm a few points. I am working a lot and I am trying to get a lot of information for Honda and to be as clear as possible with my quotes. Since it rained today we will have to move our plan for the second day to tomorrow where we are aiming to make a step with the lap time”.
“The rain today was a pity because it meant we had to change our plan completely. We had a lot of things to try but we only got a few laps in the dry. Still we made the most of what we could and got some laps in the rain where the feeling was not so bad. I was able to improve with each lap and each exit which is the really important thing. We were faster than yesterday and I’m feeling more comfortable on the Honda. There’s still a lot of work to do so let’s hope the weather is good tomorrow and focus on what we have to try”.
