The second day of the Valencian Grand Prix saw Maverick Viñales (Aprilia) take pole at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo. In a very tight qualifying session which saw several crashes in the final stages, Pecco Bagania (Ducati) and Johann Zarco (Ducati) rounded off the Top 3.
The remainder of the Top 10 were Jack Miller, Brad Binder, Jorge Martín, Jack Miller, Brad Binder, Jorge Martín, Marco Bezzecchi, Álex Márquez, Marc Márquez, and Raúl Fernández.
This weekend’s sprint race , which could decide who becomes 2023 world champion, will take place at 3pm.
Third row for Marc Márquez in Valencia
After a solid and positive Friday for the Repsol Honda Team rider, Marc Márquez started the day with a fourth place in FP2. Accumulating further kilometres and feeling good, the Spaniard was competitive during the final moments of qualifying. However, with two minutes remaining, a small crash at Turn 2 prevented him from completing a good hot lap. Finally, he will start from ninth position for the last two races of the season.
It was confirmed that Joan Mir will not take part in the rest of the Valencian Grand Prix weekend. After undergoing an early morning medical check, the Repsol Honda Team rider and his team took the decision to focus on his recovery ahead of Tuesday’s test.
