Toni Bou achieved yesterday his thirteenth X-Trial World Championship title, the twenty-fifth consecutive in his career –taking into account his twelve TrialGP crowns– since he joined the Repsol Honda Team in 2007.
With one race left and after winning in Budapest, Bilbao and Granada and taking the second place in Barcelona, his win last night at the fifth round of the championship allowed him to mathematically secure the title.
At Marseille, the Repsol Honda Team rider achieved a hard-earned victory in a difficult round where he imposed his strategy and riding style both in the first phase, which he finished fourth, and the semi-final and finale.
The last round of the championship will take place in Andorra la Vella next April 27.
X-trial Marseille 2019 – Toni Bou’s statements
I’m very happy with this new title. Last night we had a tough race, with a very high level, which I really like. It took a while for me to get into the race, because I didn’t feel comfortable –might have been nerves. It was quite difficult for me both the first round and the semi-final.
In the end, I was able to pass thanks more to the strategy than to my riding. The best way to secure a title is a win, so I’m very happy. I want to thank the whole team and my family for their support. Thank you all.
