Toni Bou achieved today a new success in the second and last day of competition of the Italian Trial Grand Prix, repeating yesterday’s first place that gave the Repsol Honda rider his tenth outdoor crown, the twentieth World Championship title of his career. His teammate, Takahisa Fujinami, closed the day with a fifth position, which secured him the third place in the World Championship and Jaime Busto was seventh today, sixth in the overall standings.

With today’s victory over Adam Raga, which he beat by fourteen points, Bou gathers his 12th victory of the season and his 88th in the Trial World Championship, 86th since he competes with the Repsol Honda Team. No less exciting was the weekend for Fujinami: his wrist injury did not prevent him from taking the fifth place today and secure the third final position in the World Championship.

Jaime Busto, teammate of both at the Repsol Honda Team, did not have his best day and, after several mistakes, he was forced to improve his position and ended the round in seventh place, thus repeating in sixth position of the World championship overall standings.

“It was a complicated day, because I didn’t go out too focused and I made a mistake at the beginning that was difficult to recover. When I recovered my pace, I failed again, although I could improve in the second and third laps. I’m very happy to have another victory; we completed a very good season and I want to thank the team for all their work. I want to congratulate “Fuji”, it’s an honour that he’s in our team and to share with him these things. He’s a fighter; he’s had injuries but he overcame them and, in the end, he worked the whole summer to keep his third place here, in Italy. Our next aim is the Trial of the Nations, which we’ll enjoy. It’s a special race for us, as we’re not used to participate in teams and we’ll fight for another win.”

“I’m very excited about this third place, I had been waiting for it very long. I had tough times due to the injuries since I broke my knee two years ago and the scaphoids this summer. The aim was the third position and I’m happy to secure it in this last race. I was very limited, physically, because my wrist was in pain, but everyone helped me, the doctors, the physiotherapist and the whole team. This third place is very important for the Repsol Honda Team. After so many years, returning to the third place makes me very happy. We’ll do more next year!”

Jaime Busto

“Today, the day wasn’t very positive. In every lap I made mistakes I shouldn’t do. I didn’t feel very comfortable and things didn’t go my way. The difficult zones I did well, but then I made mistakes in very easy places. Yesterday I did quite well, but today things didn’t go well. Although it didn’t end as I wanted, I’m satisfied of my season.”
