It’s amazing to win again after such a difficult season as I had last year.
Sergio García and Raúl Fernandez achieved victory in each of the Moto3 races, after crossing the finish line alone. The rider from Madrid is now the new leader of the overall standings.
The second race of the Junior World Championship was cut to 12 laps after an incident in the first lap that forced the race to be stopped and to repeat the start.
Jesko Raffin won with authority the only race of the Moto2 European Championship. With this new victory, the Swiss rider increased his advantage on top of the championship classification.
At the European Talent Cup, Francisco Gómez won the first race and Matteo Patacca the second, taking the overall lead.
The first race finished with red flag due to a multiple accident just four laps before the end.
The high wind at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit had a great effect on all races of the FIM CEV Repsol’s second round.
The championship will resume next May 19th at the Le Mans Circuit – at the same time as the MotoGP French GP – with the participation of the Moto3 Junior World Championship riders.
SERGIO GARCÍA – MOTO3 FIRST RACE WINNER
“It was a very complicated race because, after the start, I had to put a lot of effort to keep focused riding alone and to be able to keep some distance from the group following me. But it was fun and I enjoyed this first race a lot.”
RAÚL FERNÁNDEZ – MOTO3 SECOND RACE WINNER
“It was very difficult, I had a good start and then the race was stopped. I thought I’d be able to take the lead and push, until I saw the red flag. The second start didn’t go so well for me. I’ve been behind another rider for 5 laps and I couldn’t pass him. It’s amazing to win again after such a difficult season as I had last year. I want to thank all my sponsors, the team, that’s working so hard, and my family.”
JESKO RAFFIN – MOTO2 RACE WINNER
“It was a very difficult race due to the high wind. At the beginning it looked as if the wind had stopped a bit, but during the race it got higher and higher. It was difficult to keep the line and avoid mistakes. You never know how the wind’s going to be and it’s easy that it takes you out of the right line. But I’m really happy about this win and want to thank the team for their good work.”
FRANCISCO GÓMEZ – EUROPEAN TALENT CUP FIRST RACE WINNER
“It was a difficult race because we started with disadvantatge from the other riders, but I was able to manage that difference, even though I nearly crashed by half race. This win feels as if I had won three races. I didn’t expect it, I thought I’d be out of contention due to mechanics. I’m very happy”.
MATTEO PATACCA – EUROPEAN TALENT CUP SECOND RACE WINNER
“This is my first win and my first podium, so I’m very happy. It was a difficult race, but the team gave its all. The bike was perfect and that allowed me to be fast. I want to thank everyone that supports me, specially my family”.
