Lorenzo Dalla Porta: “Being the Junior World Champion is fantastic”.
The FIM CEV Repsol finale lived up to the expectations and the last round of the Championship decided the outcome of the Moto3 Junior World Championship. In the first race, victory went to Marcos Ramírez and Dalla Porta finished 13th after starting from the pit lane after a small fire in his bike. Everything seemed to point to the Andalusian rider taking the trophy, but a crash in the second race and a podium for the Italian rider, took Dalla Porta to the highest step of the overall podium at the Junior World Championship of the FIM CEV Repsol.
Over at Moto2, with the Championship already secured by Steven Odendaal, Tetsuta Nagashima took his first victory in the series. Maximilian Scheib closed the season with a great victory over the Champion, Carmelo Morales, in his last Superbike race at the FIM CEV Repsol, as next season he will be part of the Superbike World Championship.
Marcos Ramírez Moto3 first race winner
“When I saw that Dalla Porta was starting from the pit lane I took it more calmly and at the beginning I didn’t push hard because the track wasn’t at its best. But five laps before the end I decided to attack so that I could build some advantage. In the end, I was able to win and now we have a small 9-point advantage which will allow us to take less risks and win the championship.”
Raúl Fernández Moto3 second race winner
“I’m very happy, taking my first victory today in my first year at the FIM CEV Repsol was very important for me and for the team, because it’s the best way to finish the season. It also allowed us to take the third place in the Moto3 Junior World Championship standings.”
Lorenzo Dalla Porta Moto3 Junior World Champion
“Being the Junior World Champion is fantastic. In the first race, we had a problem with the motorcycle and we had to start from the pit lane. I also crashed, and I thought I wouldn’t be able to take the title, but I knew I had another chance in the second race and we had to do it. We did, and it was great.”
Tetsuta Nagashina Moto2 race winner
“I’m very happy to have taken this victory and the runner-up spot in the Championship. Today it was very cold and, at the beginning of the race, I couldn’t push hard, because it was dangerous. I tried to be smart, and in the sixth lap I started to push. I was able to get the first place and, in the end, to take my first victory of the season. I’m very happy with this result and I want to thank the team for their effort and their work during the weekend that made it all possible.”
Maximilian Scheib Superbike race winner
“I’m very happy. This last race was probably the best of my life, the one that left me more satisfied. We knew how to manage the round and, after winning, I had an incredible feeling and I was very happy for me and for the team. Today the level was high and many riders were fast. I want to thank everyone that supports and all Chilean people”.
